About Talamh Dubh

Talamh Dubh

Talamh Dubh is a trio with collective ties to Ireland and a love for Irish music. Their name, "Dark Earth" in Gaelic, pays homage to the volcanic ground of the Cascade range upon which the group formed. Featured in their repertoire are jigs, reels, hornpipes, marches, waltzes, and the occasional song.

Amanda Wrenn, born and raised in Anchorage, fell in love with the violin at an early age. She started by playing classical music and eventually discovered the joy of Irish fiddling at a session in Bend, Oregon in 2016. She contributes many of the most beautiful songs to our repertoire. Amanda also performs at local sessions and with her other band, The Ballybogs.

Patrick Leonard, born in Belfast, grew up listening to Irish music and watching his mother happily dance jigs & reels. After dedicating himself as a professional musician in various genres, Patrick returned to his roots, cutting his teeth at traditional Irish music sessions, and later performing with various groups on the East Coast, including Gypsy Dargle and Nu Sean Nós. With Talamh Dubh, Patrick features on tenor banjo and mandolin.

Sandra Peevers descends from a music playing family in County Kerry. Her agency, On Queue Performing Artists, has represented some of the world's best performers, many from the Celtic world. Sandy has been lucky to befriend and study guitar accompaniment from some of the great musicians she has represented through the years. While guitar is her main instrument, Sandy also plays octave mandolin with the group.

About Five Pint Mary

Celtic rock with a punk edge

Five Pint Mary

Five Pint Mary is a 5 piece, Irish-influenced band from Bend, Oregon. Since its formation in 2011, by Michael and Sarah Holmes, they have been known for their upbeat and rollicking style of Irish/pirate/folk-rock.

After Michael's unexpected passing in 2021, they have reformed and literally risen from the ashes. Original band members Sarah Holmes (vocals, guitar, Irish tin whistles), Matt Gwinup (vocals, mandolin, guitar) and Evan Holmes (violin/fiddle) have welcomed new members Mark Knippel (bass, horn) and Travis Palladino (guitar, vocals) into their clan. Together, they are keeping the Five Pint Mary spirit alive. Still rocking Michael Holmes's original songs, along with their well-honed and favorite Irish music, and mixing in some fun, outside-of-the-box covers.
