Established: August 1995
Though shoe-horned into a tiny space, the brewery at the Six Arms pub in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, has distinguished itself in at least a couple ways. First, it was where the inimitable Tina Hetzel, McMenamins first female Washington State brewer, practiced her craft in the late 1990s.
Second: Six Arms is where the popular beer of the people — Proletariat Porter — was created amidst the smoke and carnage of the World Trade Organization protests staged very near the brewpub in December 1999.
Today, Six Arms fine ales are produced sporadically for only the most special of occasions.
