About Dain Norman and the Chrysalis Effect

Singer-songwriter

Dain Norman and the Chrysalis Effect

Dain Norman is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and audio producer. Norman is not really from anywhere; he moved his entire childhood from state to state, city to city. He considers himself most from both Florida and Georgia, US. Since middle school, Norman has been performing in bands, self-releasing his first solo album, performing every instrument and producing, "Michael" in 2008, in tribute to his late step-father. Norman began to steadily move around the SE US performing, in a vagabond fashion and self-releasing demo quality singles between 2009-2013. Norman relocated to the PNW in late 2013 to pursue his dream of a music career. Making the trip across the country into a DIY tour, playing at open mics, blues jams, street corners, and little beatnik coffee shops, arriving in the PNW with only $15, living in his car and street performing to get by. The Chrysalis Effect project band was formed in 2015, in Tacoma, WA. The project has since toured throughout WA state, and OR. Releasing the self-produced "HelloJudeProductions" EP in 2016, named after Norman's first child born, "Jude" in 2015, also "6 AM Hangups" single early 2018, about losing yourself to a job you hate to provide, and the full length "Lantern" in late 2019, a concept album in tribute to Norman's fiance' Aili, about letting Love be your Lantern, to guide you through the darkness of life sometimes. The project put out an EP titled "Back Down To Earth", June 2021 through Aldora Britain Records, also a concept record about getting back in touch with your roots, relaxing, and de-stressing so that we have a more clear vision of the reality of the world and life as we know it. The first single "Fellow Man" from the EP  received airplay on 14 + radio programs throughout Europe, Australia, and America. Norman is also planning the TCE project's second full-length album, "Shades of Blue" for a Summer 2022 release, with co-production done by legendary producer Jonathan Plum, who has worked with acts such as Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Sound Garden, and currently Brandi Carlile. The first single "Shades Of Blue/What You're Worth" is now out on Aldora Britain Records, and has received airplay on 30 + stations in Europe, Australia and America. The record is a reflection of the psychology of people at large internally in reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic, with themes of 1960's peace and love in a single breath.

"Dain Norman & The Chrysalis Effect return to Aldora Britain Records with another brilliant 2-track single. The release is to celebrate one of the cuts, 'When Will This World Be One?', being selected for a Bollywood soundtrack. This song is backed up by 'We Can Have Peace Tomorrow'. Both of these tracks breathe new life into Dain's self-proclaimed 'earth rock' sound. A genre that blends beautiful harmonies, an attitude of peace and love, and a soulfulness that carries itself throughout every aspect of the song. 'When Will This World Be One?' is sheer anthemia and euphoria, a plea to mankind. Very topical in the current climate. 'We Can Have Peace Tomorrow' taps into a similar spirit, but from a more acoustic-based starting point. Once again, Dain's powerful voice shines through. This release is as soulful as modern rock and roll gets. For fans of The Beatles, Sam Cooke, The Byrds, Tom Petty, and MC5." -Aldora Britain Records March 2022

About Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek

Blues/Jazz

Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek

Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek is a two-time nominee for Best Band by the Washington Blues Society. They specialize in jump blues, an upbeat style with elements of swing and jazz, but also play soul, funk, and roots rock - all with a strong rhythmic drive that keeps dance floors packed. The band maintains a busy schedule of club dates around western Washington, and has also performed at many leading festivals and events, including The Westport Blues Festival, The Gorge Rhythm and Blues Festival, The Sunbanks Festival, The Bite of Seattle, and Northwest Folklife. They gained a widespread following as the house band at Seattle's legendary New Orleans Creole Restaurant following Seahawks home games at nearby Century Link field during the team's Super Bowl and NFC Championship seasons.

The band's sound is built around rocking piano, wailing saxophone, and multiple dynamic lead vocalists. The piano playing of leader Mark Hurwitz displays a broad range of influences, from New Orleans keyboard icons Dr. John and Professor Longhair to classic blues pianists like Otis Spann to rock'n'roll piano pounders Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. This will be their fourth show at The Spanish Ballroom.
