About The Mistaken
The Mistaken started as the backup band on the album, ‘Go!' by Drayfus Grayson (1998). Prior to that, bassist Chris Shulda, and keyboard player Nick Santangelo had been writing and performing their songs in the Los Angeles area. They recorded at Live Oak Recording, with Jim Moreland (The Negro Problem, Kai Clark, Americana Railroad, The Kelly Bowlin Band) producing. Fast-forward to 2021 and you'll find The Mistaken now based in Olympia, Washington. In 2025, they released ‘Charms Won't Work', a collection of original songs, along with two remastered favorites. Joining Nick (keyboards/guitar/vocals) are David Carroll (upright bass/vocals), and Dan Walker (saxophone). The Mistaken play Originals, Twang, Folk, Country, TexMex, Soul, Rock, Jazz, World music. Their mix is unexpected, be it a clever original or a hip take on the familiar. They often invite guests to join them on sax, guitar, or percussion. You will never be bored listening to The Mistaken. Thanks to an ever-growing fanbase, The Mistaken is performing north and south toward Seattle and Portland. Their album is for sale online, in Los Angeles, and at stores in the PNW with more outlets to come.
