About White Eagle Saloon & Hotel

A Legendary Rock 'n' Roll Hotel

Experience nightly live music at one of Portland's oldest bars

Set in North Portland's industrial neighborhood, the legendary White Eagle Cafe and Rock 'n' Roll Hotel echoes with tall tales of resident spirits, reverberating rock, and Shanghai tunnels, as it has since its opening in 1905.

Originally a hub for Portland's Polish immigrants, today the place is known for its vintage charm and nightly live music. The Holy Modal Rounders and blues man Robert Cray helped launch the bar's live music tradition, followed in the '80s by Northwest music icons Paul deLay, Curtis Salgado, Norman Sylvester and more. Today the musical flavors range from hip hop acts to downhome country—all true to their live performance roots on our quaint stage.

Upstairs, the Eagle's 11 hotel guestrooms offer simple charm. Named for a variety of Holy Modal Rounder tunes, historic photos of the band's performances line the walls and painted lyrics adorn the rooms’ walls. With its nightly live music tradition, and train tracks nearby, the hotel is not for the light sleeper! (Children are allowed, but keep in mind we are a Rock n’ Roll hotel; we recommend that guests be 21 & over to enjoy the White Eagle)

Outdoor firepits are popular in the warmer months, and inside the Saloon, a massive oak back-bar houses McMenamins' craft beers, wines and spirits along with a menu of pub fare. The original ceramic-tiled floor, corner stage and exclusive artwork all contribute to the historic experience.

After a Blazer game or a concert at the Moda Center nearby, or a trade show at the Convention Center, ride the MAX train’s Yellow Line to the stop a block away.

White Eagle  allows pets on the side patios and in hotel rooms for a $25 fee.

The White Eagle is one of the most storied joints in the Northwest.
