A beautifully realized tale of civilization versus nature, PRINCESS MONONOKE is a true epic by Japan’s master animator Hayao Miyazaki.

While protecting his village from a rampaging boar-god, the young warrior Ashitaka becomes afflicted with a deadly curse. To find the cure that will save his life, he journeys deep into the sacred depths of the Great Forest Spirit’s realm where he meets San (Princess Mononoke), a girl raised by wolves. It’s not long before Ashitaka is caught in the middle of a battle between iron-ore prospecting humans and the forest dwellers. He must summon the spirit-powers and all his courage to stop man and nature from destroying
each other.

One of Miyazaki’s most dark and mature films and certainly violent, PRINCESS MONONOKE is a fantasy epic with a dire environmental message. The end result is almost Kurosawa-Esque in story and structure. Whilst initial box-office was poor in the West, eventually became Studio Ghibli’s breakthrough film off the back of home video sales.

When that night comes for Kiki, she embarks on her life journey with her chatty black cat, Jiji, landing the next morning in a sea-side village, where a bakery owner hires her to make deliveries.

Rarely has the animator’s art been so brilliantly rendered as in this delightfully imaginative film – a beautiful and timeless story of a young girl finding her way in the world. Dubbed in English on July 23 and subtitled on July 24, this special two-day event will also feature GKIDS Mini-Fest, an ongoing festival of the best animated shorts from around the world.

Comfy old sofas, armchairs and tables for two make for memorable movie-going experiences at Kennedy School. And we're not talking about science class documentaries, either. Nowadays, this former school auditorium is home to nightly showings of second-run feature films and more.

The auditorium features murals representing the remarkable history of Kennedy School and its surrounding neighborhood. Ample space allows up to 300 fans of the silver screen to take in a flick — made all the more enjoyable with the addition of our handcrafted ales, wines and spirits along with pub fare, delivered to you during the show from the adjacent Theater Bar.

Whether visiting Kennedy School Theater to enjoy the movies you missed at the big cinema multiplex or taking in a movie as part of an overnight stay, you're bound to have a different experience at the Kennedy School than at just about any other movie theater around.
