Princess Mononoke (Subbed)

(PG-13) Running time: 134 minutes

A beautifully realized tale of civilization versus nature, PRINCESS MONONOKE is a true epic by Japan’s master animator Hayao Miyazaki. While protecting his village from a rampaging boar-god, the young warrior Ashitaka becomes afflicted with a deadly curse. To find the cure that will save his life, he journeys deep into the sacred depths of the Great Forest Spirit’s realm where he meets San (Princess Mononoke), a girl raised by wolves. It’s not long before Ashitaka is caught in the middle of a battle between iron-ore prospecting humans and the forest dwellers. He must summon the spirit-powers and all his courage to stop man and nature from destroying each other. One of Miyazaki’s most dark and mature films and certainly violent, PRINCESS MONONOKE is a fantasy epic with a dire environmental message. The end result is almost Kurosawa-Esque in story and structure. Whilst initial box-office was poor in the West, eventually became Studio Ghibli’s breakthrough film off the back of home video sales.

Spirited Away

Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award®-winning masterpiece "Spirited Away" was the biggest box office hit of all time in Japan and helped redefine the possibilities of animation for American audiences and a generation of new filmmakers. Chichiro thinks she is on another boring trip with her parents. But when they stop at a village that is not all that it seems, her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, and Chihiro is whisked into a world of fantastic spirits, shape-shifting dragons and a witch who never wants to see her leave. She must call on the courage she never knew she had to free herself and return her family to the outside world.
Combining Japanese mythology with "Alice in Wonderland"-type whimsy, "Spirited Away" cemented Miyazaki’s reputation as an icon of animation and storytelling. Dubbed in English on October 29 and subtitled on October 30, this special two-day event will also feature GKIDS Mini-Fest, an ongoing festival of the best animated shorts from around the world.

Kiki’s Delivery Service

From the legendary Studio Ghibli and director Hayao Miyazaki comes "Kiki’s Delivery Service", the beloved coming-of-age story of a resourceful young witch who uses her broom to create a delivery service, only to lose her gift of flight in a moment of self-doubt. When that night comes for Kiki, she embarks on her life journey with her chatty black cat, Jiji, landing the next morning in a sea-side village, where a bakery owner hires her to make deliveries.
