About The Scoop on Lopez Island Creamery & McMenamins Ice Cream

The Scoop on Lopez Island Creamery & McMenamins Ice Cream

Join us for ice cream and meet McMenamins' new ice cream supplier, Lopez Island Creamery!

We have developed some tasty and unique ice cream recipes over the years, and Lopez Island Creamery is now partnering with us to bring their locally made ice cream to our restaurants and gift shops across the McMenamins universe.

We began ice cream production out of the Black Rabbit Restaurant kitchen during the early days at Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. While the locally made ice cream was a hit, producing enough for multiplying McMenamins locations, including the Edgefield summer concert series, quickly outgrew the small batch approach.

McMenamins Historian Jon Smart discusses the history of McMenamins ice cream with Gina Niesl and Mary Minor from the McMenamins food and beverage department, and Lopez Island Creamery's owner Alex Thieman takes us through the history of their local company and the process of ice cream production.

And of course, there will be plenty of Lopez Island Creamery ice cream samples to go around, as well as ice cream-enhanced desserts and drinks available to purchase.
