About The Heats

The Heats

One of the most heralded rock bands ever from the Pacific Northwest, The Heats earned high praise for their craftsmanship at the Spanish Ballroom last fall. They're back with their major hits from the 1980s and all-new songs from their lauded studio album released late last year.

"There's only a handful of must-have albums from 2024 ... The Heats' new one tops the list," wrote Power Pop News.

The Heats dominated Seattle's airwaves and inspired a new culture of local music-making decades ago. Showcasing original songs with upbeat melodies and compelling vocals, the storied band headlined the Pacific Northwest's top clubs, opened for The Kinks, and toured nationally with Heart and The Knack. John Borack of Goldmine named "Have an Idea" one of power pop's top 50 albums.

Reuniting in late 2023, co-founders Steve Pearson (guitar, vocals), Keith Lilly (bass guitar) and Ken Deans (drums) welcomed Jon Memolo (guitar, vocals) to the band.

Don't miss The Heats' return October 16. Soak in the unique sound and power-pop spirit that originally launched the storied band to overnight success.

About The Cowboys featuring Rick Smith.

The Cowboys featuring Rick Smith.

The Cowboys featuring Rick Smith - that's what they're calling themselves these days, as they reunite to deliver a powerful revival of Seattle's musical legacy.

The lineup features Seattle music scene veterans Jack Hanan on bass and Marty Waychoff on drums. On guitar is Ernie Sapiro, who joined the band in 1983 following the breakup of The Lonesome City Kings, a previous band with Rick Smith-now stepping into the role of guitarist and lead vocalist.

Smith is perhaps best known in Seattle as the lead singer and songwriter of The Girls, a standout post-punk band that frequently shared stages with The Heats and The Cowboys during the city's vibrant early-'80s scene.

This reimagined version of The Cowboys will deliver a dynamic setlist featuring songs from The Cowboys, The Girls, The Lonesome City Kings, and a few tracks from Smith's Austin-based band, The Mooks.

The project also serves to honor Ian Fisher, the enigmatic original frontman of The Cowboys, who passed away in 2007. He is deeply missed. This get-together is both a celebration of his legacy and a salute to the enduring spirit of Seattle's 1980s music scene.
