About Shady Day

Classic Rock-n-Roll

Shady Day

Founded in South Tacoma in 1968, Shady Day has been playing music up and down the I-5 corridor between Arlington and Centralia in one configuration or another for close to 50 years (with a few breaks for military service and relocations). Their sets are a wide mix of British Invasion, Classic Country, Americana, and R&B with a respectable library of original compositions scattered throughout. The current make-up of the band consists of Chad Shue (a founding member) on guitar and lead vocals, John Gipson on lead guitar, Vince Chavez on bass, and Dale Murrow on drums.

In 2020, the band recorded their most recent CD, "On the MarKee" and were originally scheduled to introduce it at the Spanish Ballroom at McMenamins Elks Temple in Tacoma on April 7th when Covid-19 blew all plans out the window. Then in April, 2021; just as we thought things were back on track, their long-time bass player and founding member, Rick Pritchard, suddenly passed away. With the addition of Vince Chavez to the band in late 2021, Shady Day is ready to bring their long awaited CD Release Show to the Spanish Ballroom on January 15th, 2023.

The band's music may be found on all streaming outlets and available for download via Amazon, iTunes, and Bandcamp. You may check out their photos and music on Facebook and Reverbnation.
