A Global History of the Cascade Hop

In this presentation, Peter Kopp will explore the global origins of the hops that provide the flavor and aromas of the Craft Beer Revolution. The talk is based on his recent book, Hoptopia: A World of Agriculture and Beer in Oregon's Willamette Valley (University of California Press, 2016).

About the Speaker:

Peter A. Kopp grew up in Oregon and earned his B.A. at Pacific University and M.A. from Portland State, before obtaining a Ph.D from the University of Nevada. Peter is Assistant Professor of History at New Mexico State University, where he also serves as the Director of the Public History Program. Hoptopia is his first book. He is currently working on another manuscript, Fabian Garcia and the Chile Pepper that Changed the World.
