Tony is an evocative and soulful singer, a wide-ranging songwriter and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on banjo, cello-banjo, slide guitar and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the ?air of a master chef (he's also an accomplished sculptor, but that's another story). All of the music of America is in Tony's music. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony: "True talent doesn't need categories."
"Tony Furtado, banjo player, is back...in a big way," writes banjo master Tony Trischka in his liner notes to Decembering, the brand-new album from Tony Furtado. "He's planted his flag in the midst of the fertile ground that is modern banjo. Texturally fresh, confidently audacious, rich and giving, this recording is a masterpiece." Decembering is a welcome return to the banjo and a much-needed ray of sunshine and light in these troubled times.
Tony has performed throughout the world at top venues and appeared at such prestigious music festivals as the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Jazz Aspen, Kerrville Folk Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival and countless others. He especially values the opportunities he has had to tour with such legendary musicians as Gregg Allman and with such esteemed slide guitarists as David Lindley, Derek Trucks and Sonny Landreth.
Stephanie Schneiderman is a singer-songwriter, musician, producer and activist in Portland, Oregon. Whether pursuing her prolific work as a solo artist, playing drums for all star roots pop act Swan Sovereign (formerly Dirty Martini), stepping on the stage in the musical The Full Monty, producing a wildly successful humanitarian concert series for refugees in Uganda (raising over $70k) or producing the soundtrack for 3 popular children's DVD's -selling more than 50K combined units, Schneiderman is hands down one of the most diversely talented artists the NW has to offer.
Her solo career began with a coveted spot in the Lilith Fair and she went on to receive extensive NW radio play, tour internationally, and earn placements in numerous films and primetime TV shows. She has played with some of the nation's top touring acts- from Aimee Mann to Hall & Oates, Heart, Sarah McLachlan and Train. Above all her accolades as an artist, Schneiderman has a keen passion for activism and is currently penning a musical about human trafficking.
Her new album, Crossfire, marks her 9th solo release, combining her past sonic explorations-folk, Americana, trip hop, and pop-into a beautifully dark and deeply introspective recording that is as fresh as it is compelling. Funded by pre-purchases, Crossfire is a self-released labor of love that celebrates her newfound artistic freedom as producer and will be enjoyed by anyone looking to sit down with a timeless and truly great record.
