About Myths and Milestones – Ten things you need to know about Wilsonville History
Presented by Charlotte Lehan and Greg Leo, local historians
What do you REALLY know about Wilsonville History? Join us for a
presentation on the most significant – and sometimes overlooked – events in
Wilsonville history. Along the way, two of Wilsonville’s most knowledgeable
local historians will challenge some accepted "facts" to remind us
that history is never actually finished but is always open to new discoveries
and interpretations of the past.
About the Speakers:
Charlotte Lehan is a seventh generation
Oregonian, currently serving on the Wilsonville City Council. She is a former
Clackamas County Commissioner and former Wilsonville Mayor. For the past 15
years, her passion has been local history and historic cemetery restoration.
She is currently the President of the Pleasant View Cemetery Association and
serves on the Oregon Historic Cemetery Commission.
Her interest in Oregon history and heritage led to her service on
the Oregon Heritage Tree Committee, the Oregon Historic Marker Committee, the
Wilsonville-Boones Ferry Historical Society, and the Willamette Falls and
Landings Coalition.
Greg Leo is a third generation Oregonian who has been active in civic
affairs around Wilsonville for the last 25 years. An avid reader of
history and advocate of heritage programs, Greg has served as President of
Friends of Historic Champoeg and is the current Vice President of Friends of
Historic Butteville.
Greg has successfully advocated for seven legislative acts that
commemorate important events in Oregon History. These historical events and
people are celebrated by schools, civic, heritage and community organizations
around Oregon.
He lives with his wife Rachel on a small farm near Champoeg and is
the owner of The Leo Company, a Public Affairs and Government Relations firm
that advises corporations, Native American Tribes and local governments on
media relations and public affairs matters.
