About St. Johns Theater & Pub

Built in 1905 as the National Cash Register Company's exhibit hall for Portland's Lewis and Clark Exposition, this spectacular building was barged down the Willamette River after the expo to its current location, where subsequent incarnations included a Lutheran church, an American Legion post, a bingo parlor and a home for Gypsy wakes.

The ever-evolving domed structure was later reinvented as Duffy's Irish Pub and finally, St. Johns Theater & Pub. And here we are! Friends and families are welcome today to enjoy a casual meal, either indoors or out.

Faithfully continuing in its role as neighborhood pub and gathering spot, our theater features first-run film releases for a reasonable price of $5 matinee for adults and kids, and $7 adults and $5 kids for showings after 5 pm Enjoy McMenamins handcrafted ales, wines, ciders, spirits and full food menu during the movie.

St. Johns Pub allows pets at our sidewalk seating only.

Raya and the Last Dragon

(PG) Running time: 30 minutes

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Raya and the Last Dragon travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well. Raya and the Last Dragon features the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, a warrior whose wit is as sharp as her blade, and Awkwafina as the magical, mythical, self-deprecating dragon named Sisu. Characters also include a street-savvy 10-year-old entrepreneur named Boun, the formidable giant Tong and a thieving toddler Noi with her band of Ongis. Directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada and produced by Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho.

It stood just inside the main gate of the Lewis and Clark Exposition, the World's Fair that drew more than two million visitors to Northwest Portland....
