About Shoehorn
Shoehorn began his musical journey in 1979 as a street performer in New Orleans, where he got his first pair of tap shoes. He went on to perform in 30 countries and most of the USA, and has released 6 full-length CDs featuring tap dance on his original compositions and his arrangements of show tunes. He plays a lot of instruments but is best known for simultaneously playing sax and tap dancing. With a sophisticated sense of form and a seasoned concept, he presents original songs, songbook standards, and jam tunes with groovy riffs and flashing footwork to present a sincere, soulful spectacle. In addition to his signature simultaneous sax and tap dance, he is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger and composer, with an ear for music from around the world. He works in diverse genres as a solo performer, bandleader, sideman, and accompanist to other acts. He is also the inventor of the TappercussionTM e-tapTM electric tap dance instrument, and in recent years has added live looping to his bag of tricks. Shoehorn is featured in the Emmy-nominated PBS TV documentary JUBA:Masters of Tap & Percussive Dance, and has appeared in tap festivals in Boston, NYC, Portland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Russia, and Austria.
