Each appearance reflects her commitment to amplifying marginalized voices and creating spaces for community healing.
Beyond performance, Mari has dedicated over six years to cultivating inclusive cultural experiences in Tacoma. As the founder and producer of transformative platforms like the Black Night Market, Poetry After Dark, and the Black Art Soirée, she celebrates and uplifts Black and BIPOC artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives. These events are more than showcases-they are affirming spaces where underrepresented communities are seen, heard, and celebrated.
Her artistry extends into community engagement through projects such as Voices Affirmed, which offers workshops and performance-based experiences that guide participants in exploring identity, resilience, and creativity. By blending affirmations, lyricism, and intentional practices, Mari provides spaces where individuals can reconnect with their voices and stories.
As Tacoma Poet Laureate, Mari continues this mission on a broader scale-bridging poetry with music, wellness, and cultural storytelling. Her work highlights the city's diversity while fostering connection, healing, and pride. With an open heart, profound intention, and unwavering dedication, Mari affirms the power of vulnerability and creativity as tools for liberation and social transformation.
