About Klondike Kate and the Pantages Theater

Klondike Kate and the Pantages Theater

Join Shea Drury and Jody Shaw of Rainy Day Rabbit Holes for a special live podcast recording featuring an evening of storytelling, history, and plenty of laughs.

Long before Tacoma's Pantages Theater lit up Broadway Avenue, a woman known as Klondike Kate ruled the dance halls of the Yukon. She was the "Queen of the Gold Rush" and a vaudeville performer, businesswoman, and according to some accounts, a key figure behind the early rise of theater mogul Alexander Pantages.

Follow Kate's story, from the chaos of the Klondike Gold Rush to the stage lights of Tacoma, as we trace the ambition, risk, and personal fallout behind one of the city's most iconic theaters. It's a story of love, money, and betrayal...and how it all leads back to Tacoma.
