Machetres
Machetres (ma-che-tres - A slang term for a machete tied to G3 rifle) was founded and fronted by Lilo González. Lilo González was born in El Salvador during the civil war. He fled at two years old with his family to seek refuge in the United States. He grew up in the 1980's bouncing between the neighborhood of Echo Park in Los Angeles and in Washington DC. As a teenager, Lilo founded the band and opened Fugazi's 10th anniversary show in 1997, a fundraiser for the Latin American Youth Center in Washington DC. They quickly made their way in the DC and Los Angeles punk scene supporting grassroots organizations, social justice, and Latinx youth. Machetres was recently honored in the new book chronicling famed DC studio Inner Ear and its influence on the national punk scene. The current lineup features Lilo Gonzálezon guitar / vocals, Paul González on Bass and Ryan Bukstein on Drums.
This is a rare opportunity to see Machetres play their unique mix of punk, hard rock, metal and cumbia in the Pacific NW.
