The Quags

Rock/pop

The Quags Hailing from Portland, OR and featuring the songs, voice and guitar of Tucson expat Dennis Mitchell (Brementown Musicians, Dennis Mitchell and the Wilsons), the Quags are quite simply a good old fashioned 4 piece rock band. Dennis is joined by Andy Ricker on bass (44 Long, Vehicle, J Hell, Nancy Hess Band, Moxy Love Crux), Jon Beyer on drums (Mission 5, Pacific Wonderland), and Jim Talstra on guitar (The Maroons, Pete Krebs and the Gossamer Wings, Dharma Bums, No. 2, Minus 5) all veterans of the diverse Portland music scene who have found common ground in Dennis? songs. Mining influences like the Kinks, Buzzcocks, Big Star, Small Faces, Curtis Mayfield, and The Jam, the Quags turn out the type of smart, fun, hooky and rocking tunes that back in the day were trotted out to the masses under the moniker ?powerpop?. Though looking to the past for inspiration, the Quags are firmly grounded in the present, equally at home in front of a crowd of young indie popsters or old school rockers. http://www.myspace.com/thequags

Seal Party

Seal Party

Berkeley rap hero Big Hongry joins forces with Bay Area jazz-rock sextet Seal Party for a fiery new single, "Front Page News" - a blistering, big-beat takedown of political hypocrisy. The track features a searing guitar performance from Damon Wood, known for his work with legendary funk outfit the Smoking Section and indie rock stalwarts Engine 88.

A stylistic curveball for Seal Party, "Front Page News" trades their trademark lush jazz harmonies for pounding power chords and a heavy, hard-hitting groove.

Following the single's release, Seal Party will introduce a new member to their live lineup. Keyboardist and harmony vocalist Tanya Alota makes her debut with the band on August 7 at the Ivy Room in Albany - the very venue where Seal Party played their first show during the pandemic-shadowed spring of 2022.

With Alota on board, the group is reworking arrangements and writing new material to showcase her talents.

In September, the band heads out for a regional tour through Oregon, Washington, and Northern California, bringing their evolving sound to new audiences.

Seal Party is currently at work on their third LP, slated for release in January 2026. As with their previous records, the new album is being tracked at Wally's HydeOut, part of San Francisco's iconic Hyde Street Studios.
