Shark Presentation and Dissection

Shark Presentation and Dissection

Yes, you read that correctly! Join us for a shark exhibit, a presentation and in-person shark dissection at Crystal Ballroom and Lola's Room - all courtesy of Oregon State University's Big Fish Lab. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to meet Oregon's shark scientists and learn about the important work they do. And we'll be projecting the dissection onto the big screen, so you don't miss out on any of the details.

Our recommendation: Hit up Ringlers Pub or Hal's Café for dinner before the presentation, then peruse the shark exhibits in Lola's Room before getting your seat for the big show!

The Details

Shark exhibits * Lola's Room * Opens at 6pm

Presentation * Crystal Ballroom * 6pm doors, 7pm start

Shark dissection * Crystal Ballroom * 8pm

Please note: Crystal Ballroom has very limited food options, but Ringlers Pub and Hal's Café - both located just steps from the venue - will be open and serving their full menus.

Big Fish Lab

Big Fish Lab

In the Chapple Big Fish Lab, we study sharks and other large marine predators around the world focusing on their movements, behaviors and population dynamics. From South Africa to Australia to California, using state-of-the-art technology and techniques, we sample and electronically tag animals to gain insights into their lives when we aren't there to observe them. In Oregon, we leverage partnerships with industry, management, science and local communities to study the sharks off our coasts to better understand the roles these animals play in our marine ecosystems and economies. Relatively little is known about how sharks affect our coastal ecosystems and communities in the Pacific Northwest, but here in the Chapple Big Fish Lab, we are changing that.

You can learn more about the Chapple Big Fish Lab on their website.
