About Portland Film Festival Monthly Indie Film Night

Portland Film Festival Monthly Indie Film Night

Join us to celebrate local independent film makers with our Indie Film Night, presented by Portland Film Festival. Each month we'll feature a different series of independent films by local directors, with a Q&A to follow.

About Horror

The Portland Film Festival's Indie Film Series is proud to present two horror films from independent creators: short film Beltane, a film steeped in British folklore, and feature film Moon Garden, a spooky tale about the nightmares of a comatose child.

About the films:

Short: Beltane • Director: Helena Houghton
When two old college friends reunite for a hike through a remote English countryside on May Day weekend, they discover the village to be hiding a terrifying tradition.

Feature film: Moon Garden • Director: Ryan Stevens Harris
When a little girl has a terrible accident and slips into a coma, she finds herself thrust into a darkly surreal industrial dreamworld. Haunted by a nightmarish spectre that feeds off her tears, she must follow her mother's radio-static voice to find her way back to consciousness.

Shot on expired 35mm film stock with vintage rehoused lenses, MOON GARDEN is a fantastical odyssey and a visionary, handcrafted, and fully practical work of art that shows how a child can shine light even in the darkest places.
