About Michael Compton
Michael Compton doesn’t want to be
a brand, but he does want a band. Unable to gather with other musicians due to
the pandemic, he decided to take his bedroom jams w/ recorded drums loops and
evolve them into a part live, part virtual indie roots rock “solo-band” by combining
rhythmic guitars and dynamic vocals with recorded keyboards, bass, drums and
electronic sounds. Compton worked with beloved NW producer and keyboardist
Steve Fisk, indie bassist Yuuki Matthews (Shins, Crystal Skulls) and rock
drummer Michael Musburger (Posies, Fastbacks) to create the audio foundation
for his latest group of songs. Culling ideas from within and without, his songs
are poetic explorations of our shared reality, from the personal to the
universal. These songs will be released on his debut LP titled Wooden Spoon,
which was produced by Steve Fisk and is due out this Spring. The record will be
his 20th independent release for his label missingrecords.com and features performances by Lori
Goldston (cello) and Jacquie Dillon (vocals).
