"Upbeat, loud, & rollicking, the long-running Bend, Oregon based band, Five Pint Mary, plays a unique blend of Irish and American folk rock. Five Pint Mary is lead by it's original band members, Michael Holmes (guitar/accordion/vocals) & Sarah Pollock-Holmes (vocals/guitar/Irish tin-whistles), and are graced by the huge talents of members Rick Havern (banjo/vocals), Matt Gwinup (mandolin/cajon /vocals), Tyler Cranor (bass/vocals), & Evan Holmes (violin). Collectively, this multi-generational group of seasoned musicians dish out a well-honed brew of spirited music, both traditional and original. Finished off with layers of tightly woven 3-5 part harmony vocals, the band creates a sound that is infectious and fun. Bordering on the boisterous, their sound hearkens back to the old-world pubs of Europe. Influenced by the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland, a bit of the Eastern block, and infused with a ripple of American Bluegrass, Five Pint Mary delivers a fresh and lively world sound."
David Hutchins and Darin Gentry have dedicated their lives to exploring, performing and mastering the many Avenues of traditional American Roots Music. Hutch and Gentry have mentored under and performed with many Legends of the traditional music community, such as Lightning Wells, John cephas and Phil Wiggins, Woody Pines, Guy Davis and Dom Flemons (founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops). Whether it's country Blues, ragtime, fiddle Tunes or one of there many original songs, Hutch & Gentry deliver a refreshing and entertaining performance.
