Chris Margolin

Chris Margolin has been a staple in the Portland music scene for the last decade, crafting heartfelt pop-rock songs as both a solo artist, as well as the lead singer for Frame by Frame. With his powerful vocals, tastefully honest lyrics, and storyteller like performances, he is able to bring together any type of audience.

Michael Dean Damron

With a gravelly, whiskey-tinged rasp that you may think would limit itself to tales of the bar and road, Michael Dean Damron sings about a broad array of subjects, personal and political; Oklahoma upbringings, failed marriages, and the hypocrisy of certain religious and political leaders are all in his scope.

Formerly the leader of Stumptown country-punk favorites I Can Lick Any SOB in the House and now backed by Thee Loyal Bastards (guitarist Morgan Geer, bassist Allan Hunter and drummer Sam Henry), Mike D --as he's affectionately known to many --pulls no punches whatsoever in his blues, folk and southern rock-flavored work. His last solo album, A Perfect Day for a Funeral, arrived in 2005.

About Al's Den

Head downstairs at the Crystal Hotel to hang out in this music venue named for Al Winter, Portland's gambling overlord who, in the 1940s, managed his vast empire that spanned the Pacific Northwest and into Las Vegas from this very location. Today, we hold live music, artist residencies, pre- and post-concert performances and more.
