About Fashion on the Cusp of Change: 1890s to the Roaring ‘20s
Historical costume dramas such as Bridgerton and The Gilded Age showcase the exquisite clothing of the 19th century -a stark contrast to the t-shirts and jeans of today. When admiring these envy-worthy gowns and garments, the question often arises: "Why don't we dress like that anymore?"
Fashion historian Kay Demlow explains in detail how fashion evolved between the Victorian Age and the Roaring ‘20s and the historical context in which women changed the way they dressed...forever. Kay presents original antique clothing and fashions, explains its construction, and discusses how advancements in technology and society led to the new styles of the 20th century.
