Here at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse, you'll find one of McMenamins' top producing Breweries, and the modern day Imbrie Hall Pub that was built from the timbers of Portland's historic Henry Weinhard's Brewery. Initially housed in the old Roadhouse, this small Hillsboro Brewery shared space with the restaurant kitchen, to the extent that they shared the same hood fan as the burger grill. It also featured old school open fermenters, which are problematic in a kitchen for obvious reasons. A decade later, the Roadhouse Brewery got its own decidedly upscale quarters. This is where Brewers Brady Romtvedt & Chris Oslin reside, putting their passion to work as they carefully craft each unique brew. You'll be glad you brought your curiosities as they have decades of experience that have lent stories they're willing to share with you. Enjoy these one time offerings because when they're gone, they will be no more.
This event is an Official Limited Edition Beer Tasting! You can obtain an experience stamp, getting you one step closer to a $20 gift card, if you've purchased the Passport Insert that allows for additional experience stamps.
Forty pounds of Amarillo Hops from Crosby Farms were picked on the first day of September to craft this delicious Fresh Hopped IPA. Mosaics were added mid-boil to provide a sweet tangerine base note. Then, the fresh hops were added late for a series of bright, botanical, chlorophyllin' top notes. Hop harvest -- best time to brew, best time to drink. Legend has it that a great alchemist, or philosopher, once turned lead (or maybe dirt) into gold using a magic crystal. This crystal became known as the Philosopher's Stone. Many quests were launched to acquire this stone, but it was never recovered. Over the years, the phrase "Philosopher's Stone" came to mean ‘that which is pursued but never obtained' or ‘unobtainable perfection'. This particular Philosopher's Stone is an English Strong Ale, brewed to emulate the beers of the Dark Ages.Malts: Premium 2-Row, Munich, Carastan 30/37, Crystal 135/165, RoastHops: Chinook, US GoldingOG: 1.067 TG: 1.013 ABV: 6.97 IBU: 15 SRM: 16
Helles Bock is a relatively recent addition to the Bock family and is quite lighter in color than a traditional Dark Bock. Brewed on the last day of January, this golden gem keeps tasting better and better as it continues to age. There exists a perfect balance between the big malt backbone and hop bitterness which together masks the high alcohol content. This limited batch of Dark Star CDA spent three months in a second-run Billy Whiskey barrel that contributes a light oakiness while avoiding any sweet, boozy character. With plenty of spirit to warm your bones and enough bitterness to quench your thirst, this beer was born at the breathtaking confluence of wood, hops and time.Malts: 2-Row, Munich, Crystal 75, Crystal 120, Carafa Special IIHops: Centennial, SimcoeOG: 1.075 TG: 1.014 ABV: 7.87 IBU: 93 SRM: 30
This ebony-colored Stout is fusion of coffee-like roasted barley bitterness and semi-sweet chocolate. After a month in a fresh Billy Whiskey Barrel, it's moderate hop bitterness has been smoothed by the gentle hand of whiskey-soaked oak, yielding a delightfully complex ale.Special Techniques: Aged in Fresh Billy Whiskey BarrelMalts: Pale, Grain Millers Flaked Barley, Bairds Brown, Bairds Roast, Bairds Chocolate MaltHops: US GoldingOG: 1.045 TG: 1.007 ABV: 4.90 IBU: 38 SRM: 34
We celebrated the latest bottling of Billy Whiskey by taking freshly emptied barrels and filling them with a dry-hopped IPA and eighty four pounds of peach puree. Sweet Whiskey and ripe peach are present in the nose of this hazy brew. Sip and revel in the three way dance of fruit, wood and hops. Finally, savor the long, refreshingly bitter finish that begs another taste.Special Techniques: Aged in Fresh Billy Whiskey Barrels, Dry HoppedFruit: PeachMalts: 2-Row, Superior PilsenHops: Centennial, Citra, Idaho 7OG: 1.063 TG: 1.010 ABV: 6.84 IBU: 72 SRM: 6
We added a mix of sweet and tart cherries to a light Golden Ale and re-fermented it in a neutral oak barrel for two months. The result is a glowing red ale with prominent cherry notes, red wine complexities and a refreshingly dry finish.Special Techniques: Aged Two Months in Nuetral Oak BarrelFruit: Sweet Cherries, Tart CherriesMalts: 2-RowHops: MinimalOG: 1.042 TG: 1.008 ABV: 4.39 IBU: 3 SRM: 16
