About Ockham’s Razor

Ockham’s Razor

Ockham's Razor is a band forged at the crossroads of continents-where the fog-drenched streets of Glasgow and the industrial pulse of Newcastle meet the rain-soaked mystique of the Pacific Northwest. Consisting of UK natives Kríostóir Clements (expat from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland), Kris McEwan (expat from Glasgow, Scotland), Daniel McManus (Idaho Falls, USA) and Cameron St Louis (Seattle, USA) the group blends Celtic tradition with blues-infused folk and rock, creating a sound that is both ancient and urgently modern.

Their 2025 release, Garnet, captures this evolution with cinematic depth. The album weaves together original compositions, reimagined Scottish and Irish trad favorites, and a strikingly powerful cover of Sinéad O'Connor's "The Emperor's New Clothes." Garnet is equal parts grit and grace-echoing the band's journey from the UK's borderlands to the forests and mountains of the American Pacific Northwest. Ockham's Razor has built a reputation for breaking boundaries in the world of Celtic and folk music. They became the first Celtic act ever invited to the Northwest String Summit, and they have shared stages with genre powerhouses including The Chieftains, Enter The Haggis, The Paperboys, The Young Dubliners, Celtica and The Peelers to name but a few. Their music has traveled far beyond the Pacific Northwest, earning placements on international playlists, Alaska Airlines' in-flight rotation, and major media outlets such as BBC Alba, BBC Scotland, RTÉ, and Marc Gunn's Celtic Music Podcast.Their earlier work continues to resonate. The group's 2007 album Ten Thousand Miles to Bedlam was named Scottish Album of the Month, while the 2021 double album Secrets & Silence was praised by Irish Music Magazine as "a work of musical genius... a true Celtic extravaganza."

Whether breathing new life into centuries-old ballads or forging their own path with powerful contemporary songwriting, Ockham's Razor stands as a testament to music's ability to transcend time, place, and culture. Garnet marks the next chapter in a career defined by devotion, authenticity, and the enduring spirit of both the old world and the new.
