Meagan Hope
Meagan Hope is a Portland, Oregon native who started her music career over 20 years ago as an intern at what was then the Ohm nightclub (previously Key Largo). She is a rock/alternative singer-songwriter and storyteller. Her latest album, Good Mourning tells many stories about the unique Portland music scene. When you come to a show, you're in for some fun stories and music!
Raised with music all around her, Meagan fell in love with the band The Doors when she was 8 years old. Her song, Ray of Light, is tribute song to Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for the Doors who passed away in 2013. You'll wonder if it's a tribute song or a female covering a Doors song. Meagan is a 60's spirit who grew up in the 90's and her sound captures both eras. With an alto range much like Natalie Merchant, Stevie Nicks, and Grace Slick; her music naturally has this 60's/90's influence.
Meagan's newest album, Good Mourning, takes you along her therapeutic journey pulling inspiration from her favorite bands! Mixed within her original songs are some covers of the greatest rock/alternative songs like Woodstock (CSNY), White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane), Because the Night (10,000 Maniacs) and Criminal (Fiona Apple) just to name a few.
Enjoy listening to a 6-piece band, aka, her "dirty bastards band"- (Ken Webster (keys, vox), Rusty Holmes (guitar), Jimi McCoy (bass), Blaine Oswald (guitar, vox), and Rick Starr (drums), a couple of the members from well-known bands in Portland back in the 70's!
