Sweetkiss Momma

Sweetkiss Momma

"Rock-n-Roll with a Southern Soul, Straight From the Heart of the Great NW"

Though SweetKiss Momma has been fittingly described as a "Roots" or "Southern" rock, those classifications fall short when you recognize the late-60's Soul, 70's era jam band, and even early 80's metal that impressively seeps its way into the "SKM" brew. Whether it be classic blues riffs, funk-inspired breakdowns or grandiose anthems, none are out of place in their dynamically capable hands. These guys obviously spent some time digesting their parent's record collections, and seem as though they would be right at home on a vinyl LP circa '72.
At the heart of their original material is a soulful bend that is completely genuine: front man and chief songwriter Jeff Hamel and his wife Kim were both raised on a steady diet of hymns and spirituals, and skillfully unite aspects of this upbringing with the sunny-day vibe and playful bravado you would expect from folks just as concerned with rocking your socks off as any other article of clothing.
By cleverly combining the raucousness of a wild Saturday night with the dulcet harmonies of an easy Sunday morning, the group exhibits the rare ability to be simultaneously both exhilaratingly fresh and comfortably familiar.
Multiple European Tours, and dates across the USA have earned the band a horde of loyal fans, a pile of press, and a serious reputation as a "high energy, high volume "Southern Soul-tinged Rock-n-Roll band".

Southern Rock From Seattle? Sure, why not? SweetKiss Momma's authentically rural roots-rock is peppered with enough down-home thunderboogie to please even the hairiest/scariest Freebird fan."
Sleazegrinder - Classic Rock Magazine - UK

"Southern soul-drenched rock & roll." "Damn good, indeed!"
Ctrl. Alt. Country - Belgium

"...late sixties and early seventies Classic Rock influence, with hints of Creedence Clearwater Revival swamp and elements of Soul and Gospel, while sounding remarkably current in a kind of Kings Of Leon way - only much better."
Ant Heeks - Fireworks - UK

"...SweetKiss Momma offer gritty back porch, whiskey-dripping, southern rock charm. They're darn good at it, too." "...With sound inspiration from past influences and terrific musicianship, SKM is the real deal."
Craig Hartranft - Dangerdog Music Reviews - USA

Stephanie Anne Johnson

Stephanie Anne Johnson

A singer's talent is complete when they can bring a crowded dive bar to a collective hush and also get one of the biggest audiences on the planet to a collective standing ovation. Stephanie Anne Johnson is that special singer. The front person for the Tacoma-based band, The Hidogs, can don a cowboy hat and sing over a slide as old timers weep. And they have wowed judges on the immensely popular NBC TV series, The Voice, showcasing their gifts.

Perhaps it's no surprise that Johnson is so affecting. Their mantra, after all, is "Find your joy and go there." Their prowess exudes whether they are singing the Black national anthem - "Lift Every Voice And Sing" - to a packed auditorium or whether they're cooing acoustic lullabies to Saturday night tavern regulars. Their music, which is rooted in all that's American, expresses the pain of the past, the roots of the down home and the hope that hard work will lead to proper reward.

Their latest album 'Jewels' was released on April 7th, 2023. Produced and engineered by Jeff Fielder.
Stephanie Anne Johnson has opened for acts that include political figure Bernie Sanders, and artists such as Macy Gray, Mavis Staples, Robert Cray, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Durand Jones, Joseph, Cedric Burnside, and Black Joe Lewis.
