This Years Model

This Years Model is an amazing recreation of the live sound of Elvis Costello and the Attractions. Playing material that spans Costello's lengthy career and repertoire, they have been wowing audiences with their high energy, fun shows.

Portland musical chameleons, Keyboardist Rich Landar (King Black Acid) and Bassist Dave Rosenberg (Brother's Jam) found they share a mutual love for Elvis Costello and his band The Attractions. Realizing that neither had played much of the music of their favorite keyboardist and bassist respectively (Costello's Steve Naive and Bruce Thomas), they began searching for two additional dedicated musicians to recreate the sound and more importantly the vibe of a live Costello show. Derek Boone (Jessie Leigh band) stepped up to master the intricate, powerful drumming put down by The Attractions Pete Thomas, and Alan Charing (AC Cotton) began inhabiting Costello's approach to singing and guitar playing. The four together craft an amazing tribute to the live approach of Elvis and the Attractions, playing like them, but not as a note for note cover band, but rather as a recreation of the feel of a concert performance.

This Years Model has three full sets of Costello material but also can play shorter, greatest hits, shows.

About Al's Den

Head downstairs at the Crystal Hotel to hang out in this venue named for Al Winter, Portland's 1940's gambling overlord. Enjoy a craft libation in this intimate, speakeasy-style space where live music and comedy fill the air.
