Local Roots Music NW presents our annual Local Roots Music NW Year End Celebration at The White Eagle on Sunday, Dec 29 at 5:30 pm. $10 at the door.

Our Local Roots Music NW showcase hosts will perform and talk about their monthly events and review the year's highlights at their events. We'll also announce the top 40 songs for 2019 played on the Local Roots Music NW radio show based on audience response and have other surprises including a free raffle for the Local Roots Compilation CD Vol 5 released earlier this year.

Here is our performance lineup: Carlos Severe Marcelin - Our Featured Artist for the evening. Carlos is an outstanding musician and filmmaker. Originally from Miami, Fla., Carlos is one of the finest guitarists in the region and he will perform music from his latest release.

Marianne Flemming - Host of "Crossing the Bridge" First Friday at The White Eagle.

Jessa Campbell - Host of "Rock'inn Kids" Second Sunday at The White Eagle.

Ronnie Carrier - Host of "Driftin' Inn" Second Saturday at The White Eagle.

Marianne Flemming

Hippy chick blues

Originally from south Florida, Flemming has been a professional musician for more than 30 years winning numerous songwriting and "Best of" awards for her jazzy, bluesy sound. Marianne is known as a fine singer, composer and guitarist. She has opened for many national acts including Donavon, Taj Mahal and Roger McGuinn of the Byrds. Marianne has toured the United States, Europe and the Caribbean.

From The Bluebird Café in Nashville, to The Bitter End in New York and Seattle's Folk Life stage, Marianne has appeared on many stages across the country. Her recorded music has been played on radio stations around the world.
After spending 10 years in Madison Wisconsin, Marianne added family and children to her proudest of accomplishments. Currently, residing in SW Washington, Marianne balances her day job as a special education teacher, mother to two teenagers and music obsession with mostly a smile.

Jessa Campbell

Folk

Jessa Campbell is a rising female songstress making waves in the Portland, OR music scene. She has toured the world singing with Wayne Newton, performing as a singer on Holland America Line Cruises, working with international theatre companies and with a traveling arts production of the Carnival de Resistance. Her experiences have left her with the desire to root down and create a home base where she and her partner raise their family a birth their touring music and skills cooperative: SEAD. Jessa recently released her first EP "Great Grey Owl", drawing from experiences living in this bioregion and from Hildegard Von Bingen's musical compositions that she fused with her original work. One of the single's off this EP, "Great Grey Owl" was recently was chosen as a "Homemade Jams" contest winner by Resonate Choral Arts of Portland to be and performed by their choir for their Fall 2017 season. Watch for a new music video "Cedar" for one of the songs off the new EP. Jessa is currently writing and recording new music with 5 time Grammy-nominated and 28 time Dove-nominated Producer Billy Smiley out of Dark Horse Recording Studios in Nashville, TN. She's also hosting a monthly series every 3rd Wednesday at the White Eagle with Local Roots with the intent of creating all-age spaces for musicians who are parents. Bring your kids along, as her son Cedar will be there every month.

Ronnie Carrier

Singer-songwriter

On the second Saturday of every month, in a hotel full of comers and goers, songwriter Ronnie Carrier hosts both touring and local acts for the Driftin' Inn (presented by Local Roots Music NW at The White Eagle).

Known for literary lyrics, captivating melodies and a voice of humble power, Ronnie Carrier is an eclectic songwriting star rising up in the west. A skilled lyricist who creates narrative through an emotional blend of varying musical influences, Ronnie is unmatched in both style and structure. In addition to performing up and down the West Coast, Ronnie hosts her happy hour showcase Driftin’ Inn at McMenamins' White Eagle on the second Saturday of every month, which features acts from Hawaii, Minnesota, Seattle, California, New York and more.

Robert Richter

Guitarist / songwriter

Portland native Robert Richter taught himself guitar at the age of 12 after he purchased a Sears "Silvertone" guitar from a neighbor for $5 and the promise to mow his lawn for a month. (He still has the guitar.) Over the years Richter has become known as a versatile guitarist and songwriter known for his ability to perform a variety of styles from acoustic to electric to blues to folk. His emotional slide guitar playing often works his audiences into frenzy. With a strong powerful voice, Richter is electrifying with his energy, enthusiasm, sense of humor and most of all his innate ability to "connect with people." His original songs range from the up-tempo rock-a-billy blues style originated at the legendary Sun Records Studio in Memphis to Dylan-influenced songs about life and love. In 2007 as a member of the folk rock band "Blue Lightning" Richter performed on the nationally syndicated program "River City Folk." Hosted by folk singer Tom May the program is carried on more than 250 public radio stations and NPR affiliates across the United States. In addition, the band's music was played on the "Bob Dylan Radio Hour" heard on the Sirius Satellite Network and on KUSF-FM in San Francisco. Richter has performed locally at Portland's Aladdin Theater and Waterfront Park and other well known venues and festivals around the country. His new EP of original songs titled "Live" displays what Richter calls "a dirty folk rock blues sound" fueled with fire and emotion both lyrically and musically. "If I don't believe it I can't sing it or play it!" says Richter. "Robert Richter is a charismatic entertainer that gives it his all every time he performs.
