"Beware of what you hear- when I punch you in the ear"- Sam Pace

For six years Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit have been making a name for themselves as a force to be reckoned with. As regulars in the Austin music scene and road dogs famous for their relentless 50-city U.S. Tours- the band has an old school work ethic with the chops to match.

"As far as high energy shows are concerned, Austin music fans could not do much better that Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit" - Greg Ackerman, Examiner

Over the past three years Sam has been peppered throughout the Austin Music Awards annual Top-10 lists. He has placed Top-10 for Musician of the Year, Best Song, Best Album, Best Album Art, Best Rock Band, Best Blues/Soul/Funk Band and two years in a row for Best Guitar Player and Best Male Vocals.

"Down and dirty rock n' roll is hard to come by these days, even more difficult for it to achieve the level of success Pace has..." - Overload Austin

Sam's voice and guitar playing are the signatures of the sound. His booming baritone and soulful growl give the music a powerful edge; while his heavy, swinging guitar and thick, luscious tone has been described as "a marriage between Peter Green, early Clapton, and early Hendrix."

"Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit's album Rapture is full of raw power. The overall sound ranges from blues to monster rock to moments of deep tenderness." - Barbara Jo (Famous Austin DJ and Music Hostess)

The songwriting and originality of sound is of paramount importance to the band. Their rock n' roll roots and bluesy, soulful influences are always present- but their variations of theme, groove and emotion encapsulate an entire world of sonic pleasure. Their first two albums - The Feelin' (2012) and Rapture (2014) display the dexterity and growth of the band in full force.

The band's newest album- Judgment Eve- is being broken up into two releases. Produced by Chris "Frenchie" Smith, the complete album will be released in Spring of 2018 while Judgment Eve: Part 1 is being released in EP form September 1st, 2017. The band will be embarking on another coast-to-coast U.S. Tour September-November to promote the EP.

"Raise your glass with a soundtrack of swampy-as-hell, devil's got your soul music!"- Seven Days (Vermont)

-----------------------------------------------------

Sam Pace was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Growing up he quenched his musical thirst with everything from oldies to classic rock to golden age hip-hop. When he picked up the guitar at age 15 he had simultaneously began his love affair with the blues. All through high-school blues music became his obsession; along with some lesser-known rock acts like Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Metallica to name a few.

After high school Sam attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. Through college his taste continued to center around blues and rock n' roll, but he also developed a deep love for early Reggae, the Jazz greats, and a classic soul.

While in Madison, and later in Chicago (where he lived for four years after Madison), Sam relentlessly developed his guitar and vocal chops, and played blues and rock n' roll as much as he could.

In 2011 Sam Pace moved to Austin, TX, a place where he knew no one and had never been before. Having just released his debut album, "Let the Big Dog Eat", Pace sought a band to lead and stake to claim.

After 2 months in Austin, Pace met two young musicians named Jake Causey and Patrick Sanderson. With Causey on drums and Sanderson on bass, the three got down to work immediately and formed the band which would later be called: Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit.

In the summer of 2012, Pace and the Grit released their debut album, "The Feelin'". Shortly after they embarked on a national tour that took them all over the eastern and middle parts of the United States.

"We play Rock n' Roll smooth and dirty, Soul music mean, and we're not afraid to get a little weird," says Pace.

After Causey left the band, Seth Fasske took over as drummer and the Grit began their relentless performance schedule.

By December of 2013, the Grit were at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, working with the highly experienced Chris Kress as their producer for hire. There they cut their third and most ambitious album to date: "Rapture".

"Rapture" was released in July 2014 to rave reviews. The band continued there ambitious touring, covering most pockets of the United States.

In March 2015, Sam Pace and the Gilded Grit made their first splash at the Austin Music Awards. They received three Top-10 finishes including: Best Song for "Ice Cream Samurai", Best Live Band in Blues/Soul/Funk, and Best Album Art for RAPTURE.

In the Summers of 2015 and 2016 the band spent the entire three months touring North America.

SP and the Double G are regulars around Austin and tour throughout the year. Their next album is scheduled for release in 2017.
