About The Americans
The Americans perform original rock & roll with deep roots in traditional American music. Formed in Los Angeles in 2010, they have toured the United States, twice accompanying Grammy and Oscar-winner Ryan Bingham.
In 2013 The Americans performed on the Late Show with David Letterman in support of their appearance on Hal Willner's Son of Rogue's Gallery (ANTI Records). Executive produced by Johnny Depp, the collection of sea chanties and pirate songs also features Tom Waits, Keith Richards, and Nick Cave. Reviewing the album in April's Believer magazine, critic Greil Marcus wrote, "The Americans [are] led by Patrick Ferris, whose deep voice doesn't sound like Richard Manuel's but feels like it."
In 2013 The Americans performed at the Telluride Film Festival and the AFI Film Festival, honoring the Coen Brothers and music producer T Bone Burnett for their past collaborations and the premier of Inside Llewyn Davis.
The Americans' music is featured in the Michael Mann-produced film Texas Killing Fields, starring Sam Worthington and Chloë Moretz. The soundtrack includes two original compositions by the band, "Kiss Your Eyes" and "When The Blaze Is Blue."
In 2011 the Americans performed at the wedding of Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, accompanying the newlyweds' first dance with a rendition of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love."
The Americans are: Patrick Ferris (vocals, guitar), Zac Sokolow (electric guitar, banjo, violin), Jake Faulkner (bass), and Tim Carr (drums).
