About Defining Moments: LGBTQ+ Stories from Past to Present

Defining Moments: LGBTQ+ Stories from Past to Present

Author Paul Iarrobino and contributing writers from the anthology Defining Moments: Essential Queer Stories share a diverse range of personal experiences, pivotal moments of struggle and triumph, and journeys toward self-acceptance and empowerment from the intergenerational LGBTQ+ community. Panelists include Stacey Rice, Heidi Bruins Green, Jamison Green, and Joshua Thomas.

Paul Iarrobino (he/him) is a storyteller and the author of Defining Moments: Essential Queer Stories. The anthology - his second after releasing COVIDOLOGY in 2022 - amplifies LGBTQ+ voices and provides insight into the complexities of queer lives, highlighting the resilience of individuals who have overcome societal challenges to live authentically.

Paul has a long history of community service, and he credits his upbringing in a large, Italian, East Coast family for teaching him to speak up at the dining room table, lest he go unheard. Paul is known nationally for his contributions to the field of LGBTQ+ aging. You can follow Paul at Our Bold Voices.

These events are open to everyone interested in Pacific Northwest history, and beyond! Often co-sponsored by local or state historical and civic organizations, we bring you experts, scholars, first-person experiencers, historians and documentaries expounding on topics from indigenous history to the birth of Portland, early explorers to hop growing, and on and on! It's like being back in the classroom - except this time you get to settle into comfortable seats and enjoy a drink or two with dinner while you listen and learn.
