About Dosed: Gold Ale-Based Homebrewer Competition

Come try four different incarnations of our Mozart’s Golden as we serve creatively “dosed” kegs. Each recipe will come from the minds of local homebrewing groups with a prize going to the club behind the best-selling pint. Collaborators include PDX Brewers, Boarfish, and Mugbuddies.

Mozart’s Golden
Chris Oslin and Brady Romtvedt
CPR Brewery

A light-bodied refreshing and robust ale made solely with Munich and Vienna malts. It starts out with a malty sweetness and finishes with a crisp hop tone. Enjoy this symphony of flavor honoring one of the greatest classical composers. Prost!

Spice Faerie
Eric “Tink” Madsen of Boarfish

One sip and you're roaming the jungle full of heady spice, laying in a field of morning dew-tipped wildflowers, and soaring over hills covered in ancient forests at the base of snow-tipped peaks. If Never Never Land had a signature beer, this would be it! Combining the flavors of cinnamon, hibiscus, juniper berry and vanilla bean, this beer will have you thinking nothing but happy thoughts. Clap if you believe!

A refreshing summer ale inspired by Germany's Radlers. Gold Monkey is infused with pineapple juice, fresh-squeezed lemon and lime juice, and grapefruit bitters. Enjoy this crisp, low gravity Portland take on the Bavarian classic.

Mozart’s Ruby Goblet
Jeremy Speer of PDX Brewers

This refreshing light bodied golden ale has been inlayed with dried hibiscus to give it a deep ruby red hue and a flavor reminiscent of cranberry. A touch of actual dried cranberries are used to compliment the hibiscus and give a touch of sweetness to the finish. Raise your goblet and make a toast to one of the greatest of classical composers. Zum wohl!

Hops: Perle
Other: Hibiscus and Dried Cranberries

OG: 1.047  TG: 1.007  ABV: 5.16%  IBU: 8  SRM: 5

Coffee Surprise
Chris Jennings of Mugbuddies

French roast coffee, cold steeped, adds subtle nutty notes that play off the maltiness of the base beer. There’s a secret ingredient, too, that compliments the coffee and malt. It’s so subtle, most probably won’t be able to pick it out amongst the malt and coffee, but it definitely adds a richness to the final product…can you guess what it is?

Malts: Baird’s Munich, GW Vienna
Hops: Perle
Other: Coffee extract, Cocoa

OG: 1.047  TG: 1.007  ABV: 5.16%  IBU: 8  SRM: 5
