About Portland Jazz Festival

The 2012 US Bank Portland Jazz Festival, presented by Alaska Airlines, runs Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 26 at venues throughout Portland. It includes jazz education and outreach along with a series of concerts featuring an eclectic mix of internationally recognized and local musicians playing a wide-range of jazz styles.

McMenamins is proud to participate in this highly-reputed festival, hosting events in both the Mission Theater and the Crystal Ballroom.

About Tord Gustavsen

Emerging on the scene in 2003 with a breathtaking ECM debut Changing Places, Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen has since been met by a huge volume of critical approval around the world and has been honored with the Norwegian Grammy® Award. ECM's recorded piano lineage is daunting and reads as a who's who of jazz innovators-Keith Jarrett, Paul Bley, Bobo Stenson, Chick Corea, Art Lande, Nik Bartsch, and countless others. His working quartet features saxophonist Tore Brunborg, bassist Mats Eilertsen, and drummer Jarle Vespestad. Gustavsen will make his second festival appearance this time at the Mission Theater.

About presented by PDX Jazz

PDX Jazz, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural arts organization founded in 2003 in partnership with Travel Portland, produces the annual Portland Jazz Festival. The organization’s mission is to inspire, educate and develop future jazz audiences for generations to come.  The Portland Jazz Festival is a multi-venue series of jazz events presented each February within Portland, Oregon. Nationally and regionally supported as a cultural tourism initiative in celebration of Black History Month, Portland Jazz Festival is dedicated to preserving America’s indigenous art form by presenting internationally recognized jazz masters alongside local jazz musicians. A series of jazz education and outreach programs that extend into Portland’s schools and neighborhoods is at the heart of the annual event.
