About 17th Annual Mid-Valley Brewfest
A party is always more fun when you invite guests! And that is exactly what we do at the Mid-Valley Brewfest – our own brewers plus guests from breweries from the Eugene area, southern I-5 corridor and lower Willamette Valley craft special beers for the occasion.
There's no competition here, friends – just a day of community, beer, food, music and more. Stay tuned for the list of this year's participating breweries and their beery-good offerings....
Brewfest Beer List
McMenamins High Street Brewery
Pilsen, Rye, Crystal Rye, and Victory; these malts work together to provide a smooth, well-blended, dark amber Rye ale with a mildly spicy finish.
Malts: Pilsen, Rye, Crystal Rye and Victory
Hops: Cascade and Amarillo
OG: 1.050 TG: 1.009 ABV: 5.29 IBU: 49 SRM: 11
Whiskey Oak-Aged Drago’s Russian Imperial Stout
McMenamins West Linn Brewery
(West Linn, Oregon)
This is one big, bad beer, named for one big, bad man. Yep, it’s Ivan Drago, the Soviet Union’s human weapon. Like Drago, this beer can be quite intimidating. With so much grain going through the mill, it almost seems unnecessary, like Ivan Drago. And, to add insult to injury, this keg has been marinating on a bed of whiskey-soaked, American oak chips. So, find your inner Rocky Balboa and take down this monster, before it takes you down. R.I.P. Apollo Creed (Rocky I-IV).
Malts: Two-Row, Six-Row, Flaked Barley, Superior Pilsen, Smoked Malt, Brown, Chocolate, Black, Roast Barley, c60, Dark Caramel Malt and Molasses
Hops: Nugget and Centennial
OG: 1.084 TG: 1.014 ABV: 9.0 IBU: 51 SRM: 47
McMenamins Thompson Brewery
This is a last hurrah to the beautiful summers of Oregon. We took the ever-popular Purple Haze and added fresh basil and honey, resulting in a flavorful fruit ale that blooms with the last notes of summer over the palate.
Malts: Premium Two-Row
Adjuncts: Honey, boysenberries and fresh basil
OG: 1.040 TG: 1.007 ABV: 4.26 IBU: 4 SRM: 3
Ramble On Rose
McMenamins Monroe Brewery
Multiple pale grains make this a pale ale with a little broader flavor profile. This is a moderately bitter beer with a good malt base and a clean finish. The crystal hops impart a flowery, spicy aroma. The small addition of midnight wheat gives this brew its lovely color. This beer then rested on rosehips in the keg for three weeks. This beer harkens back to a time when you didn’t have to be clubbed with a baseball bat of hops. Cheers!
Malts: Two-Row, Pilsen, Vienna, Rye, Brown Rice Flakes and Midnight Wheat
Hops: Nugget and Crystal
OG: 1.053 TG: 1.011 ABV: 5.93 IBU: 30 SRM: 11
Zeus’s Beard! DIPA
McMenamins Old Church Brewery
Dry-hopped with copious amounts of Zythos pellets, this is a brew truly fit for an Olympian. All the best Northwest hops are featured in this beer, providing a more complex and engaging Double IPA. Grapefruit, evergreen, spice and just a hint of blueberry intermingle on the palate. A slight malt caramel character serves to balance this medium-bodied beer. Each sip fades to a delayed bitterness and a subtle alcoholic warmth. Grab a pint and before you know it you’ll be atop Mount Olympus!
Malts: Premium Two-Row, Cara-pils, Munich Malt, Special Aromatic and Caramel Amber Malt
Hops: Amarillo, Centennial, Horizon, Mosaic, Nugget, Santiam, Simcoe and Zythos Pellets
OG: 1.075 TG: 1.012 ABV: 8.2 IBU: 100+ SRM: 9
Hobbit’s Habit Olde Ale
This is a rich, smooth, malty, copper-colored ale with subtle noble hop aromas that round out the array of malts from the U.S., U.K. and Germany. Smooth and very quaffable, it’s a fine ale that will put hair on your feet.
ABV: 7.5% IBU: 24
La Gaule Du Matin Port Barrel Aged Sour Belgian Blonde
Take our popular Sour Sunrise with its bright peach fruit and age it in a port wine barrel and you get an incredibly complex yet easy-drinking beer. This is a great summer sipper with layers of fruit, vanilla spice and barrel character that will keep you coming back for more.
Malts: Premium Two-Row, Biscuit Malt and Acidulated Malt
Hops: Mt. Hood
OG: 16 plato TG: 3 plato ABV: 8.5% SRM: 5
Big Black Jack Imperial Pumpkin Porter
Big Black Jack is a rich, dark brown to black Imperial Porter with aromas of classic pumpkin pie spices that meld with dark cocoa notes. In the tradition of our forefathers in American Colonial Days, we’ve crafted this Imperial Porter using pumpkins roasted by our patent pending technique, toasted pumpkin seeds, cocoa nibs, dark chocolate, and spiced it with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, allspice and ginger (all sourced locally). This malt-forward ale begins with flavors of cinnamon and chocolate, highlighted by the toasty and chocolate flavors of the specialty malts. Ginger and allspice peek in from behind this medium-bodied beer.
OG: 1.074 ABV: 7.5% IBU: 25
Nichts Weiter Als
(Lake Oswego, Oregon)
A classic approach to a German hefeweizen, this was fermented with the Weihenstephaner weizen yeast strain to provide a balance of clove and banana aroma and flavor, hint of bubblegum and a slightly tart finish.
Malts: Continental Wheat and Pilsner
Hops: Tettnanger ABV: 5.6% IBU: 11
Sam Bonds Brewery
This is a classic American IPA dry-hopped with Cascade hops, framed against a bittering blend of Apollo, Bravo and Centennial hops, and lavished with an unapologetic malt presence.
Malts: Premium Two-Row, Munich and Crystal 15L
Hops: Apollo, Bravo, Centennial and Cascade
OG: 1.066 TG: 1.010 ABV: 7.22% IBU: 67 SRM: 5
