About 2013 Telluride Mountain Film Festival
A benefit for Portland Mountain Rescue, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives through rescue and mountain safety education.
Started in 1979, Telluride Mountain Film Festival is one of America's longest-running film festivals. Through the years, the Telluride Festival has always been best described by one unchanging word: inspiring. Far more than any other adjective, that's how festival audiences describe their experience. The Telluride Mountain Film Festival is America's premier festival celebrating achievement in adventure and activism, culture and environment, bringing feature films and shorts focused not only on mountains, mountain culture and mountaineering but are also films about people who are dedicated to changing the world.
Portland Mountain Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer organization of highly skilled climbers and enthusiastic support resources dedicated to saving lives through rescue and mountain safety education. Our members, numbering over 70 strong, serve in a variety of roles, while working toward a single goal - saving lives.
All funding for Portland Mountain Rescue is derived from individual donations, grants and other types of fundraising, like the Telluride Mountain Film Festival. Portland Mountain Rescue does not receive financial support from the government, team members do not receive compensation for their work, nor are they reimbursed for their expenses whatsoever. Our members spend countless hours of their free time - and occasionally their work time - training and learning so that they will be ready to respond to a search and rescue operation on a moment's notice.
