About James Faretheewell & the Foolhardy
Unless you are a rattlesnake or a stinging scorpion, you probably never heard of where James Faretheewell comes from, but as soon as he was big enough to sling a guitar over his shoulder and thumb down a semi, he was on his way to Big D (Dallas, Texas). Once there, he cut his musical teeth on Texas roadhouse rock, hard rock, punk rock and avant-garde performance art-rock. Years spent in Austin, Amsterdam and the Great Northwest and the absorption of influences from Frederico Garcia Lorca and Louis Armstrong to David Bowie, Ani DiFranco, John Lennon, and The Gypsy Kings has helped Faretheewell evolve into a poetic, passionate and thought-provoking entertainer.
Notable Texas bands he performed in include Ice 9, Joker's Waltz, Wildflower, and Visionary Indian Angel. In Amsterdam, he fronted the group Hygora and performed solo. On the west coast, he resurrected Joker's Waltz as an acoustic group with violin. Now based in Portland, Faretheewell is currently touring and playing wherever there are open ears and minds and willing hearts.
