The Snooker Player
The Snooker Player are the newest musical synergy of Neil Negri, Omar Alaniz and Nazly Purba that delves into experimental jazz-inspired sound.
The project started when Nazly decided to move to Portland to pursue his musical dreams, and met Omar and Neil through open jams all over the town. The mutual feeling during their collaboration soon evolved into a more structure-oriented in order to achieve certain musical experience without sacrificing the freedom of expression.
Even though The Snooker Player are new to Portland music scene, the players has long history playing music nationally and internationally.
Neil is acknowledged as a performer and enthusiast for latin drums and percussion in his hometown New York. He is also performing as a breakdancer internationally.
Hailing from Florence, OR. Omar mostly known with his frontmanship as he performs throughout his home state as a solo artist or with his band. His unique leadership and production skills are provident to the band's sound evolution.
Nazly spent a lot of his childhood in Indonesia making music out of non-musical elements. He had led his bands to perform at many different shows in his hometown Indonesia, played at a festival, and was featured in a national tv show when he was in high school. Currently, he is also busy with his solo project Lambent that embrace all-improv live looping music.
Some of their current influences are Jojo Mayer and Nerve, Yussef kamaal, Bad Plus, etc.
