Common Starling
Tracy Kim and Angie Sabin became friends at the Laurelthirst pub during one of Tracy's weekly gigs with The Kung Pao Chickens, a local gypsy jazz group. When they discovered their shared musical tastes and exchanged some original tunes, Common Starling was formed.
Angie writes the majority of their originals, with guidance from Tracy on vocal harmonies and arrangement. Tracy provides context and adds depth to the songs through intricate and inspired lead guitar; think Gillian Welch and Dave Rawling but a little more dreamlike, less Americana. This is the intersection where Mazzy Star meets Fleetwood Mac. In short, their influences are varied and the resulting sound is incredibly unique. Their debut EP will be released late Spring 2017.
