Plan 9 From Outer Space (NR) [1959]
Flying saucers over Portland! Plan 9 From Outer Space [1959] has often been called the worst movie ever made and for good reason – the worst is sometimes best and always hilarious. For those who haven't seen it, it's a treat, showing how not to make a movie. Edward D. Wood Jr., director and writer, was famously brought to life by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's 1994 biopic Ed Wood, Martin Landau won an Academy Award that year for the role of foul-mouthed Bela Lugosi.
Plan 9's flying saucers, flinching zombies, cardboard tombstones and its aliens, angered by the “stupid minds” of planet Earth, only lead the fun. Their supreme plan: to animate an army of recent dead. An airline pilot and some half-witted cops try to defeat the alien menace. Can you prove it didn't happen? As Criswell says, “Remember friends, future events such as these will affect you in the future.”
