Covenhoven

Colorado native Joel Van Horne, aka Covenhoven, has dubbed his new critically acclaimed album the ocean record, because he wrote the songs while touring and exploring the west coast over the past 2 years. Chapter 3 in the Covenhoven story, "A Kind of Revelation" continues his over-arching theme of immersion in a place, and letting that place become the centerpiece of the music. Big Sur, Olympic National Park, and the Oregon coast served as his geographical muse this time around. The resulting 9 songs are a captivating journey that transport the listener to the remote corners of the windswept coastal wildernesses from which they were born.

He's shared the stage with Gregory Alan Isakov, Blind Pilot, S. Carey (Bon Iver), Aaron Embry, Rayland Baxter, The Oh Hellos, John Paul White (Civil Wars), Joshua James, John Craigie, Shook Twins, Anna Tivel, Joan Shelley, etc.

Corinne Sharlet

Outlaw folk for rebel hearts

Corinne Sharlet

With a voice that radiates ethereal mystery while staying grounded in guttural richness, Portland-based songwriter Corinne Sharletis singing her way into a bold new sonic world. DeceiverCorinne's debut EP, dives brazenly into a dark, warm ambience, transporting listeners to an expansive scenery where the narrator is as relatable as she is otherworldly. Armed with a captivating musicality, Corinne is quickly emerging as a songwriting tour de force.

"This collection of songs has been a long time coming," shares Corinne, whose performance and musical experience took root in Central Oregon's wild high desert when she was a kid. Over the years Corinne's contribution to various bands as a dynamic vocalist shaped her prowess as a dedicated performer, but it is her own inquisitive poeticism and bone-deep melodic instinct that shape the earthy musical aesthetic for her newly formal solo career.

The title track "Deceiver"infused with Spaghetti-Western-inspired guitar licks and primal beats, reflectson the mysterious process that it is songwriting. Corinne shares that "the song is a call to my own creativity; calling on the courage to capture melodies when they come to me even if they sound weird or unfamiliar."Deceiver was recorded at Saint Cecilia Studios in Portland, and engineered, co-produced and mixed by Steven Lee Tracey.

Corinne has already gained acknowledgment in national press, with Imperfect 5th calling her debut EP "absolutely magnetic" while Various Small Flames has said that she "makes music haunting yet tied to the corporeal condition." The 4-track EP begins swiftly with the opening track, "Firing Line," a genre-bending, western Americana song reminiscent of Sharon Van Etten's driving vocal quality. The third track on the EP "Evil Eye" is a nostalgic nod to the reverberating sound of Nancy Sinatra. "Hail Mary," the closing track, is an unpretentious ballad that showcases Corinne's lilting and elegant vocals, echoing against a backdrop of subtle percussion and lo-fi guitar.

With a catalogue of well-crafted songs in her back pocket, Corinne is busy performing throughout the West Coast and dreaming up plans to record her debut album.
