7 Deadly Sins: Pants On Fire!

Portland's Wildest Storytelling Experience Returns!

Join us as we host Portland' most wildest and interactive entertainment event with Pants On Fire! Party at the historic White Eagle Hotel & Saloon.

Pants On Fire! features some of the Pacific Northwest's premier storytellers, comedians, artists, writers, celebrities & musicians telling some of the most outrageous, hard-to-believe, 100% true stories you've ever heard. The problem is, one of our storytellers will be lying to your face, telling a complete whopper that never happened.

Think you can figure out which ones are telling the truth, and which one's pants are on fire? If you can, you might win a bunch of cool stuff, including sponsor swag, concert tickets, and an overnight stay at the Edgefield Winery & Hotel.

Featuring (mostly) true tall tales by PDX radio icon Daria Eliuk; actor, singer, and frontman for the Top-40 synth-pop group Animotion Bill Wadhams; comedian, Portland Mercury columnist and Portland Queer Comedy Fest producer Dahlia Belle; singer-songwriter, raconteur, and Renegade Saints alum John Shipe; comedian, actress, and improv artist SJ Santa Cruz, Salky Literary's Kate Garrick, improve artist and Second City alum Liz Woods, and PDX artist Oscar Sparkle.

And after the show, stick around as we party into the night with music from John Shipe, fresh off his latest album The Beast Is Back, about which Through The Lens noted has "a brutal honesty at play - mature love songs, playful paeans, foot-stompers and empathetic slow burners. Shipe's clear and modulated vocals are a feature (his voice reminds me of the great Joe Henry)."

So join us for an evening of good eats & drink, games & prizes, mingling, catching up, great music, and of course fantastic collection of some of the wildest stories ever told on stage - most of which will actually be true!

7 Deadly Sins produces several regular storytelling shows including 7DS: Pants On Fire! and Daria's Confessional Cabaret at McMenamins White Eagle, and 7 Deadly Sins: MainStage and 7 Deadly Sins: Saturnalia! at the Mission Theater. Check us out at

John Shipe promotes his dozenth album -- The Beast Is Back -- by dragging innocent duo partners around the Pacific Northwest, in a frenzy of acoustic gigs, making up for time stolen by the Pandemic. He'll play anywhere, anytime, for anyone. But he thrives best in the listening-type venues where people come to hear stories, poetry, and fingerpicking.

John Shipe

Acoustic indie pop & rock

John Shipe

Eugene indie-pop singer and songsmith John Shipe returns with Yellow House, a new 16-track solo album. A stripped-down affair produced by Ehren Ebbage, the LP features a core of mostly acoustic instruments augmented with keyboards, a rhythm section, horns and players from the artist's past electric line-ups (The Blue Rebekahs, The Scapegoats).

Shipe's body of work has been described as cinematic, aggressively embracing any genre required to enhance the colorfully drawn characters in his songs. The synthesis of seasoned songwriting and sonic intrigue works on both the brain and the heart. A veteran writer and performer, Shipe currently has a repertoire of 200-plus original songs and 15 years of touring, radio airplay and nine recording projects behind him. 27 of his tunes have played on 100 independent and commercial radio stations, all without the support of a major record label. He's also shared the bill with Bob Dylan, Blind Melon, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Cake, Tower of Power, Jerry Joseph, Jimmy Cliff, Derek Trucks, Los Lobos, Tony Furtado and quite a few others.

Shipe is now playing mostly solo shows, which highlight material from Yellow House and add in acoustic versions of older favorites from his previous electric efforts. He is often accompanied by stand-up acoustic bass and a second guitarist/vocalist.

"...remarkable vocalist and songsmith...breaks away from the mold...Without a doubt, he's an interesting figure..." -Performing Songwriter Magazine
