About The Malheur Occupation and Public Lands in the American West
Presented by: Bill Robbins
About the Presentation:
Join Professor Bill Robbins for a presentation on the creation of
Malheur Wildlife Refuge and the continuing struggle over management of public
lands in the West. A continuation of earlier protests, the roots of the Malheur
Occupation of 2016 can be found in the history of Harney County, from the
arrival of cattle in the late 19th century through the Great Depression, the
creation of the refuge and the passage of the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934.
