About Portland Trailblazers 1977 NBA Championship 40th Anniversary

Portland Trailblazers 1977 NBA Championship 40th Anniversary

It’s the 40th anniversary of the historic 1977 Trailblazers NBA Championship win, and blazermaniacs have a special opportunity to celebrate! McMenamins Mission Theater is showing the rare 1978 documentary “Fast Break” directed by filmmaker Don Zavin. Up on the big screen you can bear witness to Zavin’s incredible journey into the world of the post-championship team including Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas, Bob Gross, Lloyd Neal, Jack Ramsay and more.

There will be an introduction by local award winning author and Larry Colton who will also discuss his role in the film. Come experience a true Portland fan’s film on the big screen and raise a pint of our special beer “red hopped and rollin’ IPA” on tap to the 40th Anniversary of one of the greatest moments in Trailblazer history.

In the spirit of honoring the philanthropic legacy of Rip City, a portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Brian Grant Foundation

Red Hopped and Rollin' IRA
I was born forty years ago and a few months later, the Portland Trail Blazers won their one and only NBA championship. Being a lifelong Blazer fan, I jumped on the opportunity to make a special brew for the replay of the final winning game originally played on June 5th, 1977 at the Memorial Coliseum. This beer is red for obvious reasons, and hoppy because that's what pleases the west coast beer drinker. Mosaic Hops shoot a layup of floral and citrus flavors and aromas. Six different types of malts show excellent teamwork that provides a malty backbone to support those hops. The Blazers swept the LA Lakers to make it to the finals that year, and before that they beat the Buffalo Braves, now known as the LA Clippers. Enjoy the brew, enjoy the game, and here's to another NBA championship soon!

Malts: Pilsner, Flaked Barley, Crystal 15, Caramalt, Crystal 120, Chocolate Malt
Hops: Mosaic
OG: 1.062  TG: 1.014  ABV: 6.19  IBU: 77  SRM: 13
