Soaring, melodic harmonies, and captivating storytelling form the foundation of Falcon Heart's Folk inspired Indie/Rock sound. With influences ranging from Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes to Sublime and Elvis Presley, Falcon Heart expresses love, loss, and lessons learned from the evergreen city of Portland, Oregon.
Falcon Heart was conceived when a Craigslist ad brought musicians and Oregon natives Marcus Glaze and Aaron DeRosso together almost ten years ago. They have been refining their friendship, songwriting, and performance skills through various projects ever since, forming Falcon Heart in 2015 with the addition of bassist Robert Williams and electric violinist Jean Mastaler.
Glaze, a natural born performer, joins his instrumental, vocal, and songwriting talents with those of DeRosso, a meticulous and engaging long-time drummer, singer/songwriter, and recent guitarist. Williams embellishes upon Falcon Heart's melodies with his catchy and intricate bass lines, while Mastaler blends her classical sensibility with her fierce electric violin into the expressive, nuanced, and explosive sound that is Falcon Heart.
Feathers' full length album, Neon Renaissance, is about
love, the life journey, our planet and it's dwindling resources, liberating
cultural belief systems, being true to the self, connecting to our ancestors,
and honoring our heroes," Feathers says. "Spreading your wings and
trusting in the flight.”
— Radio One, Chicago
After a series of open mic gigs, Feathers (with Ritt) played at House Of
Blues Chicago.
"Big stage," she recalls. "I was hooked."
After a few years of recording demos with the likes of Chuck
Gladfelter (Dovetail Joint/Ivory Wire), Joe Cassidy (Assassins/Butterfly
Child), Preston Graves (Cupcakes) and Matt Walker (The Smashing
Pumpkins/Morrissey), she was ready to take her creativity in another direction
and moved to Portland, Oregon.
Her latest album Neon Renaissance was Engineered and Mixed
by Adam Selzer at Type Foundary (Peter Buck, M. Ward) and Self-Produced by
Lindsie Feathers. The album is supported by Decemberists pedal steel
player Paul Brainard, Fabulous Thunderbirds drummer Jimi Bott, slide player Bob
Shoemaker, Jackstraw harmonica player David Lipkind, Fernando pianist
Ralph Huntley, organist Mike Walker, and Belinda Underwood, Julia Schlippert
and Gayle Ritt on backing vocals.
In the words of the Neon Renaissance creed,
written to define the album: "Let us follow our dream, teach the
earth, serve humanity. We seek to love; not hate. To Heal; not
hurt. Let love prevail."
