About Race Talks: History of Black Drag Queens in Portland

Race Talks: History of Black Drag Queens in Portland

An offical kick-off to Portland Pride and Juneteenth! Join us in the Theater as we celebrate the history of Black Drag in Portland, with performances by Coco Jem Holiday and Nay Nay Leakes Cartier with DJ No Bi. Es. The panel includes Lawanda Jackson, Cicely, Maria Peters Lake and Sheniqua Volt.

Our goal is to make this an equitable event for our LGBTQIA2S+ BIPOC community. We will be making a small number of tickets available for purchase. The rest will be available for free through our community partners to ensure that this is an accessible event.

About Race Talks: Opportunities for Dialogue

This series deals with race in Oregon, both historically and up to the present time, to provide learning experiences that support the development of racial identity and sensitivity.

Each month, Kennedy School hosts a presentation on a different topic of ethnicity and racial elements in Oregon history, given by educators and/or experts in the topic at hand. The aim is to provide educational and learning experiences that support the development of intercultural sensitivity and racial identity.
