One hundred years ago, in June 2020, a Portland attorney travelled to Chicago, stood on a chair, and made a brief speech that eventually decided who would - and who wouldn't - be the thirtieth President of the United States. The remarkable story of Wallace McCamant is full of loyalties and grudges that had long impacts on McCamant and the nation.

About the Speaker:
Kerry Tymchuk is the Executive Director of the Oregon Historical Society and a graduate of Willamette University and Willamette University College of Law. Tymchuk has served as a Marion County deputy district attorney, director of speechwriting to the U.S. Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Dole, director of speechwriting and legal counsel to U.S. Senator Bob Dole, and state director to U.S. Senator Gordon Smith.
