Biddy on the Bench

Fittingly for an Irish band, Kevin, Nick and Noah met together for the first time at a "Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfetones" concert at Kells Irish Pub in Portland. Kevin and Nick, both hailing from Mentor, Ohio, have been playing together in various configurations for years at Irish festivals and pubs around the mid-west and east coast, while Noah, a native Oregonian with a musical background in bluegrass, choral music, and traditional Irish singing, has been a part of several ensembles around Portland and in his hometown of Estacada. Casey Dyer, the most recent addition to the group, has been performing Irish music regularly in the Portland area- his experience as a session musician added the final ingredient to the musical mélange that is "Biddy on the Bench". Realizing their collective potential, the four began practicing regularly and participating in local open mic and Irish music nights. "Biddy on the Bench" makes frequent appearances at The Highland Stillhouse, Feckin Brewery, and Maher's Pub. Kevin, Noah, Nick, and Casey look forward to expanding into the Portland music scene!

Hawthorne Roots

"The Hawthorne Roots are a 4-time award winning, sister led rock band from Bozeman, Montana. The group consistently brings a soulful and energetic performance to the stage, every lyric sung with passion and authenticity. Their original material continues to gain momentum and admiration within the northwest community and beyond. Their sound is compared to Fleetwood Mac, Heart, and Sheryl Crow.

The group tours heavily in the western region, working tirelessly to build their brand and expand their audience. The band is currently in the studio working on a self-produced EP showcasing their new sound. The music of The Hawthorne Roots comes straight from the heart. Stay tuned and keep in touch."

Anchor & Reel Trio

Sea-shanty & celtic trio

2 p.m. 'til 3:30 p.m.

Anchor & Reel Trio

Anchor & Reel is formed around two singers/multi-instrumentalists, Steve Dearborn and Dan Haley - both moonlighting in the Celtic music realm. Haley is known for his pop and folk sensibilities in acts like Ed & The Boats, Rainworms, Gravel and  dozens of other projects. Dearborn also plays with the Americana-pop project Alexa Wiley & the Wilderness.

The pair perform jigs, reels and vocal music from the British Isles including sea shanties that invite audience participation. Haley explains: "Sea shanties were the ‘Top Ten' radio of the good old days - with great hooks (pun intended) and melodies that got folks dancing."

We welcome guest artist Timothy Horner on violin.   Musical miscreant and jack of all trades, Timothy has taken his classical roots and conservatory training and careened through the stylistic spectrum, making his mark with Jazz, blues, folk, rock and avant garde forms.  Whether as front man, arranger or hired gun, he brings an exuberantly spontaneous improvisational flair to each.  Enjoy the novel chemistry.
