McMenamins currently operates 24 breweries, with our newest at Elks Temple in Tacoma, Washington.
Since our first brew at the Hillsdale Brewery & Public House in 1985, McMenamins has produced more than 75,000 batches. In 2016, our breweries collectively crafted more than 3,900 batches of beer (including more than 250 new house-specific recipes), which equaled more than 46,922 kegs of beer or an astounding 5.8 million pints!
In keeping with McMenamins' company philosophy, our breweries believe that brewing "green" is brewing responsibly. Waste products are given to local farmers, where they can be used; materials used are recycled or reused whenever possible; and second-hand equipment is largely used. Have a look at our earth-friendly brewing practices.
Many beer lovers are familiar with our ales: Terminator Stout, Hammerhead, Ruby, Black Rabbit Porter, Sunflower IPA and others. Roasting beans from small-farm growers to produce the best cup of coffee
McMenamins Coffee Roasting facility, a humble house in Northeast Portland, is dedicated to roasting the highest-quality Coffea Arabica species, resulting in coffees of elegant, complex flavors. We source our coffee beans from small farms in the world’s best growing regions. From the careful cultivation by our farmer partners to skilled roasting by our production team, each step is artfully executed. Our roasting – which began in-house in 2001 – is done in single small batches in a state-of-the-art German-made Probat gas drum roaster, which allows our staff to develop each coffee to its fullest potential.
As the company has grown, so has our coffee program. We now roast more than 70,000 pounds of coffee every year, yet have kept our commitment to handcrafting our coffee. By roasting each batch to order and delivering weekly, McMenamins Coffee Roasters is committed to giving customers of our pubs, restaurants and hotels the freshest coffee.
Our high-quality coffees are served in all our locations, and are available for purchase in our gift shops, at the Coffee Roaster, at our online store, and through our coffee subscription program. Look for our hand-stamped date of roasting on the back of every bag – the mark our roasters use to signify that these beans meet our rigorous standards. All in the name of a fresh cup to sip and enjoy.

A classic Northwest Pale Ale and McMenamins Standard. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade Hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the Crystal Malt. This beer has a vocal following; to run out is an unforgivable sin.

One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March of 1986: To create an ale that's light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-Row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious.

Black as the darkest night and as rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true Stout lover. This is a full-bodied and flavor packed ale that draws it's robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint. The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling beers, year after year.

Blackest Heart is an Imperial Stout aged for over a year in Hogshead Whiskey barrels with sweet cherries, cocoa, and cold brew coffee. It's dark, indulgent, and hard to resist.

Great Uncle Jim McMenamin, in his rambling old Portland house, had near-flawless specimens of rose-colored light bulbs – the perfect balance of pink, brown, orange, white and gold. And in a perfect balance of whiskey barrel-aged coffee, lactose, hops and malt, this rich, roasty, full-bodied Irish Coffee Stout is an ode to Great Uncle Jim.

Welcome the first-ever company-wide spring seasonal IPA from McMenamins! A light straw color makes way for aromas of grapefruit, mixed berries and fresh pine, thanks to a thorough dry-hopping. A medium body welcomes a bready sweetness and flavors of citrus and tropical fruit. The finish is crisp, with an adequate bitterness. So, raise a pint to the institution that is the Pacific Northwest IPA.

This brew was named after our nation’s first female police officer and the namesake of one of our venues. This company-wide seasonal delivers big aromas of berries and pine thanks to a hop blend created by the Pink Boots Society, an organization for women in craft beer. Lola’s Hazy IPA provides flavors of earth and passionfruit, with juicy quality that we think would impress Lola Baldwin herself!

The Crystal Brewery has collaborated with the Edgefield Brewery to create a beer that's meant to mirror the spirit of the Annual Sabertooth Psychedelic Stoner Rock Micro Fest. This hazy IPA boasts aromas of citrus and ripe papaya while a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel precedes resinous flavors of juicy tropical fruit and clouds of marijuana smoke. Raise a Haze to the stoner rock of past and present.

Pau Hana Gold Island Lager is crisp, clean and as refreshing as an ocean breeze. This beer has wonderful fruity esters from both the lager yeast and noble hops. The name Pau Hana is Hawaiian for "work is finished" and was the first beer to come out of the Kalama Harbor Lodge Brewery and has become a staple of this location. This easy drinking lager is sure to keep you balanced on your path.

Tropic Heat is a kettle soured ale brewed with pink guava puree, coconut and habanero peppers. The heat contribution from the peppers is very minimal and creates a pleasant background quality that lingers. This slight spiciness accentuates the fruity, full guava taste that is this beer's foundation. Coconut was also added to pleasantly blend all of the fine flavors together.

McMenamins Sunflower IPA was first introduced in the summer of 1995 at our West Linn Brewery. Inspired by the bountiful sunflowers grown in the pub's beer garden, this IPA has a deep golden color and distinct citrus flavors that satisfy both the diehard IPA drinker and those who prefer a lighter palate. Sunflower IPA is truly a beer for the masses.

Tart and funky, this three-headed beast is a blend of a Golden Ale, a Nectarine Brett Pale and Ginger Hibiscus Gose. All three beers were aged together for two years in the Cerberus barrel, a former Hogshead Whiskey Barrel, and inoculated with a Belgian Wild Ale strain, Brettanomyces Bruxellensis, to create a pleasant and earthy tang that pervades this balanced beer.

Fresh Simcoe Hops from the fields of Oregon’s Sodbuster Farms were rushed to every eagerly awaiting brewer within hours of the hops being picked. A reincarnation of a beer originally brewed by John Richen at the Fulton Brewery in 1993, this IPA is fierce. You're met by a straw color, and aromas of lime, berries and tropical fruit. A lively body crafted on a light foundation sets the stage for magnificent hop quality. Flavors of honeydew and citrus abound, followed by a crisp, dry finish.

Originally created at the Thompson Brewery on October 15th in 1991, Black Widow’s web now envelops the entire company every year. Each sublime deep-black goblet is packed with the robust notes afforded by generous amounts of Black and Roast Malts, and further spirited with ethereal wisps of caramel and licorice.

Lord Gourd is a blend of barrel-aged Black Widow Porter and barrel-aged Longest Night Barleywine. Terminator Stout was added to cut the heat and contributes roast caracter. The barrel adds a hint of vanilla that pairs well with the spice from rum soaked cinnamon sticks, creating the illusion of freshly baked pumpkin pie. This festive offering is limited, so enjoy it while you can!

For the 5th birthday of our 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop, we've chosen something strong, dark, and decadent from Edgefield's barrel aging program. This Imperial Stout was aged in freshly dumped whiskey barrels for 6 months before being transferred into more freshly dumped whiskey barrels for extra-strong flavors of oak, whiskey, vanilla and burnt caramel. Its dark, chewy and very unique.

After aging in Hogshead Whiskey barrels, this beer is a true example of a classic, barrel-aged English Barleywine. Already a formidable ale in its own right, it has matured into a flavorful, complex behemoth. It offers flavors of toffee, caramel, and a warming alcohol character that's been rounded and accentuated by notes of raisin, vanilla, and oak from its aging.

Charged with leading the Christmas revelries, the impish Lord of Misrule is ever changing. 2020's brew is still our tried-and-true Milk Stout, but this year we brewed it with rum-soaked cinnamon sticks and Aji Colorado peppers grown in our gardens for a dark, roasty zing. Barrel aging in Edgefield Distillery's whiskey barrels imparts spice notes and mischief that this lord is so known for.

This special Wild Ale was a collaboration with the Edgefield gardeners. Made with estate-grown miniature melons and blackberries, it was spontaneously fermented in American oak and aged on fruit. This is the fifth beer out of Edgefield’s Coolship Program, emulating a centuries-old method from brewers of Belgian Lambics. After brewing, the beer is cooled in open-air 'coolships' allowing contact with native, wild yeast. This beer is tart, fruity, and one of a kind.

McMenamins has always had an environmentally conscious climate. Since the company's inception in 1983, recycling had been handled on a pub-by-pub basis. In 1991, a full-time environmental coordinator was hired to oversee reducing, reusing and recycling the company's waste, including materials such as plastics, paper, cork, metals, glass, oil, cardboard and so on.

Order a keg of McMenamins brew for your next party from one of our Oregon or Washington breweries! Different varieties are available at each location, so call ahead to see what beers are on hand.
At select breweries we can also fill Cornelius canisters. Call the brewery to make arrangements. You will need to bring your clean canister and leave it with the brewer for filling. You cannot drop in and get a canister filled unannounced.
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds.
Yes! McMenamins Ales are available for purchase at our Oregon and Washington Breweries. Sales depend on availability and the various breweries will have different styles available, so please be sure to call ahead for assistance in tracking down the perfect beer for your backyard BBQ or birthday bash.
A keg of McMenamins beer costs $120. All kegs require a $100 refundable keg shell deposit. Tapping equipment can be rented for $10 and requires a $40 deposit which is refundable upon the tap's return. McMenamins can only accept cash or credit cards for keg sales and deposits. Keg shells and rental taps must be returned to the brewery of sale to receive a deposit refund. A sales receipt must also accompany the shell and tap to receive the refund. A refund check will be made payable only to the purchaser of the keg.
All sales are final. We do not offer refunds.
McMenamins occasionally makes pony kegs available for purchase. Please inquire with the brewery about smaller-sized kegs. Pony kegs will cost you $60, and have the same deposit requirements as the full-sized kegs.
Yes, we can fill Cornelius Canisters at select breweries. Call the brewery to make arrangements. You cannot get a canister filled unannounced. You’ll need to bring your canister and leave it with the Brewer for filling, but it must be dropped off cleaned and sanitized, in serviceable condition, and able to maintain pressure. Current pricing on Cornelius Canisters is $75 for 5 gallons, or $45 for 3 gallons. If you have a different size Corny Can, it is $15 per gallon.
We do not have any pressure fittings or Corny Can parts to supply or rent. Currently, the locations that are verified to fill cans are Kennedy School, Crystal, Fulton, Highland, Hillsdale, John Barleycorns, McMenamins On The Columbia, Queen Anne, Thompson and West Linn.
Contact one of our breweries to purchase a keg. The Brewer will walk you through the process of purchasing, picking up and returning your keg.
You’ll need to provide a valid driver’s license and another piece of acceptable identification. You’ll also need to provide the address of the location where the beer will be consumed, the time the beverage will be consumed, and the license plate of the vehicle transporting the keg. The purchaser who fills out the required Liquor Control Commission paperwork is the only person who may take possession of the keg.
When you call the brewery to find out if a keg is available, you will also make arrangements for picking up the keg. Most keg reservations can be made up to a week in advance. For more long-term reservations (which must be prepaid) please contact the Edgefield Brewery at (503) 667-4352.
You should get approximately 120 16-oz. cups from a full-sized keg, and half of that amount from a pony keg.
You’ll need to obtain a Sankey-style tapping device. McMenamins rents hand-pump models which work fine for parties where the beer will be consumed in one or two evenings. CO2-driven systems are recommended for service longer than 2 days.
Once a keg leaves the brewery, it cannot be returned for a refund, even if the keg is full. Please ensure that you have access to the proper tapping equipment before you purchase a keg.
It is illegal to sell alcohol without a special permit/license. To purchase a keg and sell it to another party is not only illegal, but the purchaser is responsible and liable for what happens to the keg once McMenamins releases it.
